TOGS Development Update 4

Welcome to another blog post. We’ve been focusing on polishing and improving our art and other assets, and we’re excited to be able to share what we’ve been working on, along with some updates on progress for 1.5.

We’ve fully established the art style for all 6 regions of Mata Nui. While 2.0 is still a ways off, it’s exciting to be able to fully realize what Bionicle: Masks of Power will look like as a final product. We unfortunately can’t share much with you right now, but believe us when we say it looks like Mata Nui. What we will be able to share soon is our finalization of the art style for the Tatari. We’ve made even more refinements to the look of the Tatari alongside the island of Mata Nui, and it’s looking better than ever. You can expect more teasers and news about both the visual overhaul of the Tatari and the beta release in the coming months.

Speaking of Art redesign, we’ve begun work of redesigning our HUD. Much of our Current HUD in TOGS was borrowed from Legacy, and needed a bit of an upgrade. The current plan is to have elements of the HUD that are unique to the Toa you are playing as, making for a more dynamic and interesting visual experience. The information on the HUD will be much better laid out and easier to read, making things such as the mask focus meter easier to keep track of. Other elements, such as quest icons, and an indicator for which area you are in have also been planned for the HUD. The HUD has also been moved to the upper left hand corner. We hope to fully integrate this new look for the HUD soon, and hope that you’re looking forward to using it.

Speaking of improvements, we’re also working on fully remastering our soundtrack. We’ve brought some additional composers and mixers, which will help us to improve the quality of our music. New tracks are being composed, and old ones are being made even better. We hope you’re looking forward to what our music team has in store.

Finally, we’d like to give an update to how development on 1.5 is coming along. We’ve nailed down all of the features which will be included, so now it’s only a matter of going through the very long to-do list and adding them. Adding all of the planned quests, dialogue, cutscenes, and other features will take a long time to do, but we’re hoping to be able to release 1.5 this year. It’s been quite a while since the last Legacy update, but we’ve been working hard to make 1.5 the absolute best that it can be.

Thank you for reading. While many of these improvements may take a while to make their way into the actual game, we want to share the progress that we’re making, and hope you’ll continue to follow and support us as we continue to work.

May the Great Spirit guide you.
